Megan studied at the Michaelis School of Fine Art in Cape Town (1998 – 2001) and recently completed a Master’s in Education (2020). While continuing her career in education, she plans to further explore her passion for printmaking.
Megan is intrigued by the technical processes of printmaking, the precision it requires and the element of surprise it offers. Megan works predominantly in drypoint, etching, linocut, embossing, and screenprinting, as she enjoys the flexibility and variety that these printing techniques provide. In her most recent work, she played with techniques of pressing mixed media such as cotton and fabric into paper prints, testing the degree to which one can combine the two harmoniously. This allows for playful and unpredictable outcomes and achieves a sense of individuality in editioned prints. While on a short residency in India, Megan experimented with traditional block printing and hopes to apply the concept of repeated patterning and use of textile to future printmaking projects.
