Paula enjoys overlaying her own photographs, painted elements, and proudly South African botanicals from her garden to create prints. The juxtaposition of the white impressions and areas which remain blue on her cyanotypes creates almost an x-ray see-through quality in her work to evoke a sense of nostalgia.
Her work centers around themes of sensitivity, vulnerability, and femininity. She loves combining painting and drawing with printmaking, whether it is by painting on transparencies to use for her cyanotypes or by drawing extra dreamy details onto linocuts after pressed.
