From 2002 to 2005 Renee received tuition from master printer Collin Cole. Currently, she uses monotype in her art practice, but also finds that screenprint provides a way for her to express her ideas around blurring the boundaries between design, graphic art, and fine art.
Reneeās most recent work has been her Tondo Series, tondo being a Renaissance term for a circular work of art. Her themes which recur as tondo monotype prints relate to transposition (inversion and substitution) and states of mind. Although these abstract works seem to represent the intangible, a specific state of mind is suggested through each title.
Renee holds an MA in Art History and an Advanced Diploma in Fine Art, both from The University of the Witwatersrand.
