Yvette van Wijk grew up on a farm in the Eastern Freestate, went to boarding school in Natal. She did her BA(FA) at Rhodes University, Grahamstown and did some etching with Brian Bradshaw. Studied drawing in Munich. Returned to Grahamstown to get married and taught art at DSG. Opened Teader Gallery, had 3 children, bought a small etching press, Fascinated by plants and Botany. Wrote/illustrated some books. Moved to Hoekwil southern Cape 1992, Curated Southern Cape Herbarium, got interested in archaeobotanical. Exhibited few times BAFTA and Everard Read. Graduated PhD Rhodes 2019.
