Allison studied Fine Art at Wits Technicon, majoring in printmaking. She first lectured in printmaking and drawing at the Parktown College, and then worked in several commercial creative fields.
Now Allison has returned to her fine art practice, making playful and satirical imagery. Her love of experimentation brought her back to printmaking. She enjoys both the chance elements of the medium’s processes, and incorporating traditional print techniques with digital and analogue collage. The ever-changing urban environment of Johannesburg is Allison’s home, a space that intimidates, intrigues and inspires her. Her mixed media works show personal yet socially aware narratives that respond to a city layered with diversity, shared legacies and unprocessed memories.
